Turning Up to the Next Level

This year's video highlighted the absolute focus and work ethic that goes into being the top level marching band that the Spartan Marching Band is. all 300 members of the SMB give their all to pushing the program to the next level year after year. The band was founded as a military band and the seriousness and focus of that tradition still reigns true for the SMB. From a technical level, we shot this video using anamorphic lenses, giving it a cinematic aspect ratio that really narrows into the focus in the eyes of each band member.

New Beginnings

2024's video theme was "Beginning". It was a new beginning for Spartan Football lovers everywhere as the new season marks the first with our new head coach, Jonathan Smith. However, this is not a new beginning for the Spartan Marching Band so we wanted to invoke the feeling of the "calm before the storm". the preparation and get-in-the-zone mentality that happens with every member as they put on the uniform and prepare for game day.

After being a member of the Spartan Marching Band for 4 years, I have had the privilege of creating various content including the "Entrance Video" for the SMB for more than a decade. The "Entrance Video" starts the pregame festivities in Spartan Stadium to begin the game. Spartan Stadium first got massive jumbotron screens in 2012 and that is when the SMB decided to GO BIG! While I was a member of the SMB, the legacy of excellence was engrained into who I became as a professional.

This was also the first year we ever showed the SMB in practice and not only focusing on performance. This video was worked on in collaboration with the team at Render Studios.
